Get Rid of Acne Once and For All

Have you experimented with nearly every acne product in an attempt to get rid of acne? You know how miserable it feels to try one thing after the other and not get relief.   If you've tried everything and still don't know how to cure acne, you may need to step back and look at the big picture.

Acne is a skin care disease that has many underlying causes.  The most common form of acne that typically strikes teenagers is called acne vulgaris. The redness, inflammation and blemishes that make you feel so terrible about your appearance are triggered by puberty and hormonal changes.

However, there are other underlying causes of acne, including hormonal changes related to pregnancy, menopause, and other hormonal imbalances such as PCOS (polycystic ovary disease).Acne has been linked to a poor diet in some people.   You may have an underlying food allergy, or you simply may react to certain foods that trigger outbreaks. Some prescription medications list acne as a potential side effect.  Lamictal acne is one example where a drug has been linked to causing acne breakouts in some people.

Millions of people have acne, but that doesn't make you feel any better about it when you are the one who is suffering. You may feel shy socially, avoid people, and really lose confidence. Acne has even been linked to mental depression in some cases. So, beyond just the skin surface, acne has many potentially negative impacts on your life.   Finding a cure and finding out how to get rid of acne is extremely important.

If you have already tried skin lotions and topical acne treatments and not found success, don't despair.  There have been many advances in acne treatment, and sometimes just finding the right medical professional who can diagnose the root cause of your acne is the difference between continued suffering and finding a cure.  Consult a dermatologist or physician with experience in treating acne.  If your acne is determined to be hormonally related, birth control pills may be prescribed. If you suffer severe acne, it might be time to try some of the prescription acne medications.

Consider reaching out for support and talking to other people who are also suffering from acne.  There are several websites that offer on-line acne forums where you can communicate with other acne sufferers, ask questions, and discuss various acne treatment options. Don't underestimate how badly acne can make you feel, it helps to reach out to others and know you're not alone.

When it comes to chronic acne, if you've not found a solution, you need to consider an "inside out" perspective.   Typically, you will need to amend your diet to begin eating more healthy foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables for the antioxidants.  A poor diet can cause all types of health conditions, which manifest in the skin as acne.  Instead of treating acne symptomatically, instead look for the root cause and find a cure.

Also, always drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to flush toxins from your skin. Some research shows that eating too much sugar triggers acne in a lot of people.   Consult with a nutritionist, or physician who can perform blood tests and rule out underlying medical conditions or imbalance.  You should find someone who can recommend the right acne diet, which typically is just a healthful diet that also promotes good skin as a result.Detoxification and balancing your body will have long term benefits to both your skin and your overall health.

You may also consider taking some of the new acne skin care supplements that have vitamins, minerals, and other ingredients that support healthful skin.  These are results of new scientific advancements in skin care and development of products known as "nutraceuticals."

The good news is that there are more solutions to get rid of acne being researched and developed all the time.  It is unlikely this will be a life-long condition, and more likely that by finding the right help, you will find a cure, and get rid of acne once and for all.
