Different Kinds of Acne

The word 'acne' involves similar feeling in everyone. People think about dirty looking, yellow and red pus filled pimples all over the face as if there is just one kind of acne. All kinds of acne affect a person in quite a similar way. But they are different from each other. It is very important of understand the basic difference between the various types of acne because each type responds to a specific treatment. Acne vulgaris, the most common cause of acne problems is in fact a group of a number of acne. The group has papules, nodules, cysts, blackheads, whiteheads and pustules. These are the nicer varieties of acne. Whiteheads erupt due to blockage in the pores. The white thing, which comes out when a blackhead is squeezed, is dead skin cells mixed with sebum. Black heads, on the other hand crupt because the pores are blocked but they are not totally blocked

Severe acne

The psychological and emotional effects of acne are many and it is difficult to deal with them too. For sufferers of severe kinds of acne, it gets much worse. The most severe form of acne known to affect human beings is Acne conglobata. Acne conglobata has characteristic large lesions. The lesions are also many in numbers. Acne conglobata stays for years and causes massive scarring. Besides face, acne conglobata can erupt on the chest, back, upper arms, thighs, buttocks and face. It is mostly observed in the age group of eighteen to thirty. The good news for women here is, acne conglobata is more common among the men.

Females are affected by a different variety of acne. This form of acne is different from the one that affects the males. Pyoderma faciale affects females in the age group of twenty to forty. Pyoderma faciale affects even those women who did not experience acne during the teens. This type of acne has charceteristic large nodules, sores and pustules. Unlike acne conglobata, pyoderma faciale remains active for approcimately an year. But like Acne conglobata, pyoderma faciale does long term damage to the skin.
